Book'em Danno!

I'm going to be reading and signing at this year's inaugural BOOKED! Festival in Toronto.
The event I'm participating in features Jeanette Walls (The Glass Castle), Sherman Alexie (Flight), Jane Green (Second Chance) and little 'ol me - reading from The Birth House.
A perfect event for book clubs. Hope to meet you there!

Saturday June 9
4:30 pm
Enwave Theatre - Harbourfront Centre
235 Queens Quay West
Tickets are $10
Harbourfront Centre box office 416-973-4000.
or go to: the Booked! Web site

By the way, this is just one of the many fantastic events planned for this year's BOOKED!
For starters, Stephen King will be making his first Canadian appearance - ever...
Browse their web site to find out if one or more of your favourite authors will be there!

BOOKED! is a brand new readers’ festival for ALL booklovers! From chick-lit to horror; from politics to pop culture; it doesn’t matter if you read a book a week or one a year, you’ll find an event you simply can’t miss at BOOKED!

Featuring over 50 authors from across Canada and around the world at events throughout Toronto, BOOKED! is your chance to meet the authors behind the books you love and to get a “sneak preview” of their upcoming books, to shop for new releases and best-sellers and to have your favourite books signed by the authors.

Plus, BOOKED! features 2 full days of children’s programming at Historic Fort York and the Harbourfront Centre that will delight both parents and kids—and teachers, too.

Some BOOKED! events are absolutely free—those that require tickets can be bought through this site.

Wow! How exciting for you. Many congratulations. Would you ever have thought that this would happen? I'm a homeschooling parent in NS and am working on my first manuscript. What a lot to learn! Hopefully, we'll meet someday. Again, congratulations on your success. Loved the book. You nailed the setting and people of NS perfectly. Colleen

What a cool event. And how awesome that you are a part of it. I wish I was just a little bit closer (California). ;-) If you are ever looking for a place to discuss your book, please stop by our site. It is called and it is an online community where people from all over the world can discuss the books they are reading, join in book clubs, and post reviews.

Stop by if you have time. Good luck at Booked!!!!

I missed your appearance on Spring Garden because my son was sick, and I was really dissapointed... Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I read your book shortly after giving birth at home assisted by a midwife... and one of the birth reminded me so much of mine! I loved it! Thank you so much, and I really hope you'll publish something else in the near (enough) future!
